Indonesia kembali sabet 4 Medali Emas dalam IPhO ke 41 2010-07-24 15:05:15

Siswa-siswa Indonesia kembali mengharumkan nama bangsa di kancah internasional. Lima siswa Indonesia meraih 4 medali emas dan 1 perak dalam Olimpiade Fisika Internasional (IPhO) ke 41 yang diadakan di Zagreb Croatia.

Kelima anak yang dikomandani oleh Hendra Kwee Ph.D ini adalah:

• Christian George Emor SMA Lokon St. Nikolaus Tomohon Sulawesi Utara - Medali Emas
• David Giovanni SMAK Penabur Gading Serpong, Banten - Medali Emas
• Kevin Soedyatmiko SMAN 12 Jakarta - Medali Emas
• Muhammad Sohibul Maromi SMAN 1 Pamekasan Madura - Medali Emas
• Ahmad Ataka Awwalur Rizqi SMAN 1 Yogyakarta – Medali Perak

Hasil ini menunjukan suatu peningkatan yang luar bisa kalau dibandingkan dengan hasil yang diperoleh di Olimpiade Fisika Internasional ke-40 di Merida, Mexico, yang saat itu kita hanya meraih 1 emas, 3 perak dan 1 perunggu. Dari aspek jumlah peserta, Olimpiade tahun ini diikuti oleh lebih banyak negara.Tahun lalu hanya 70 negara yang mengirim tim, sedangkan tahun ini terdapat 82 negara dengan jumlah peserta sekitar 376 siswa yang berpartisipasi.

Hasil yang menunjukan bahwa anak-anak Indonesia tidak kalah dengan siswa negara manapun di dunia ini, diperoleh tidak dengan mudah. Para siswa dibina secara intensif di Surya Institute oleh Hendra Kwee Ph.D selama lebih dari 8 bulan dengan didanai oleh Departemen pendidikan Nasional.
Tim akan kembali ke Indonesia dengan pesawat Lufthansa jam 17:40 tanggal 26 Juli 2010

My Personal Experience in Junior High School

Bangku SMP bagiku adalah masa-masa yang sangat berkesan dan sangat menyanangkan. Hehe disini aku kenal dengan teman2 yang baik, lucu, dan kadang “nyolot”, guru2 yang baik (walau kadang sering marah2 kalo kelasku ramai, yah kelas ku terkeal paling rame), yang jelas kenal sama orang2 mengesankan. Dan satu lagi aku udah nyicipi yang namanya ikut Olimpiade. Hmmm dari olimpiade itu justru aku mengenal diriku yang sesungguhnya, ngerti apa sebenarnnya perjuangan, dan apa itu kompetisi. Yang jelas aku belajar banyak deh dari situ hoho. Kenal juga sama orang2 hebat seperti dosen ITS yang sempet bimbing misalnya. Walau waktu ikut bimbingan aku sering hamper telat (only hamper lho ya…. Bukan telat jadi gak pernah telat hehee) dan hehee suka ngantuk (terlalu pintar orangnya, dan terlalu cepat ngomongnya, terutama kalo yang ngajar Mr Bean (jangan brpikir bahwa dia adalah orang yang lucu kaya mr bean sesungguhnya). Kadang aku heran itu dosen, apa putra keraton yah, kalo ngomong Alus total Selain itu kalo jelasin panjang lebar jadi kaya di dongengin. Jadi kesannya monoton dan bikin ngantuk). Selebihnya, mengesankan banget deh masa2 olimp. Banyak kejadian jail dan lucu yang tak terlupa sepanjang hayat (kecuali kalo nanti tua, aku pikun hehehe)

Terus waktu menjelang UN juga mengesankan. Walau UN yang membuat BB ku turun drastis dan buat aku susah tidur (tapi sekerang udah sembuh). Hmmmm waktu UN aku totalitas banget. Gak makan, kurang tidur udah biasa. Apalagi gak nonton tv. Paling cuman liat berita aja untuk sekedar refresh pikiran. Heehe walau kadang masih buka FB, Twitter sih. Tapi masih dalam porsi yang normal kok.

Tapi jujur terang2an ya, waktu pengumuman kelulusan, aku langsung drop begitu liat nilai IPA ku cuman 8, 50. yah tau kan aku suka fisika dan fisika itu masuk di IPA. Jadi rada kecewa saja nilai ku cuman segitu (bukan berati gak bersykur, tapi yang namanya kecewa boleh lah ya….). tapi kalo aku pikir2 lagi itu kan digabung, jadi kalo nilai IPA hancur belum tentu gara2 nilai Fisikaku jelek. Mungkin biologi salah satu penyebabnya hehe memang aku hanya punya nilai pas2an bwt Bio. And not only bio but also my Javanese score is soooo bad. Cuman dapat 6,30 hehe tapi wajarlah rata2 dari temanku juga dapat segitu (menjadi bukti bahwa anak jaman sekarang mulai lupa sama bahasanya sendiri atau mungkin gurunya aja yang buat soal susah bgt)

Walau begitu, aku sedikit puas juga sih,,,,, setidaknya nilai Math ku hamper sempurna. Yay yay! IPA gagal no problem but kalo sampe math jelek aku mungkin bakal kecewa dan drop 3 hari 3 malam (lebay), hei tapi serius lho beneran.

But, I’m promise. Janji deh besok SMA nilai lebih bagus dari sekarang wohoho

syukur alhamdulillah deh bisa lulus dengan nilai baik "plus" predikat sebagai siwa paling kritis alias banyak tanya dari guru math ahahaha dan not only it, aku udah dapat sekolah. jadi gak usah bingung2 nyari kayak teman2 lain hahaah

Oh, nearly forgot, kalau semua ini tak lepas dari berkah Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, dukungan orang tua, keringat guru2, motivasi dari sekolah dan semangat dari teman-teman.

Professor Yoichiro Nambu wins the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics

This year, the Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to three Japanese physicists, Professor Yoichiro Nambu, Professor Makoto Kobayashi and Professor Toshihide Maskawa.

Among them, Professor Nambu started his career at our Department (1942: BA degree, 1942-1949: Research associate, 1952: degree of Doctor of Science) and has had a close association with us since then.

The concept of "spontaneous symmetry breaking", which Professor Nambu discovered, introduced a totally new method for giving mass to fundamental particles and played a defining role in constructing the "Standard Model" of elementary particles.
To date, many people have been awarded the Nobel Prize for their contribution to this model.
We are very happy to know that Professor Nambu, whose work is the basis of the "Standard Model", has finally been honored.
Professor Nambu's idea is quite universal in many branches of physics. For example, superconductivity and rotational phenomena in quantum systems can be clearly understood using his ideas.
The massless bosons which appear after the symmetry breaking are now referred to as "Nambu bosons" or "Nambu-Goldstone bosons".

We are indebted to Professor Nambu for his various contributions to our Department. He provided opportunities to many researchers from our Department to work in his Lab at the University of Chicago and shared his great ideas with them. He also visited our Department almost every year and shared with us his great inspiration through beautiful lectures and seminars. He also gave us valuable suggestions as a member of the independent review committee for the Department.
As an example, the goal of the 21st century COE program "Quantum Extreme Systems and Their Symmetries" (2003-2007) was conceived in order to promote a broad range of physics in a harmonious way, much like Professor Nambu's work.

As a successor to Prof. Masayuki Yamamoto, I will act as Dean of the School of Science (the Graduate School of Science and the Faculty of Science) for two years from April 2009. It is really more honor than I deserve that I have this opportunity to be involved in the operation of the School that has a long history since its establishment in 1877. With the cornerstone of glorious history established by the School seniors, I would like to do my very best to make further development. Let me also take this opportunity to ask for the School members’ cooperation.

During the evolution of the Universe that started from the Big Bang 14 billion years ago, co-evolution of environment and life started on the Earth, an aqua-planet in the solar system, around 4 billion years ago. Early humans that appeared 6 ~ 7 million years ago during the evolution of life began to perceive the Environment and became capable of working on the Environment using fire and tools. Modern humans that appeared in Africa about one hundred thousand years ago adapted to the Environment and utilized it. Seeking more secure life, they established a world of logic, created history based on clear understanding of the stream of time, and gradually created complicated devices and equipments, through which they have established current modern society. Intellectual curiosity of human beings has clarified the structure of Nature that shows the rich hierarchical structure ranging from an ultramicroscopic world to the Universe.

We are a group of people who share the same goal of “understanding the structure and reason of Nature”, which is the most fundamental activity of intellect of mankind, for succession and creation of knowledge. However, there are a lot of people in the world who are facing so many difficulties that it is hard enough for them to live out their lives. In such a situation, how privileged we are to be able to be engaged daily in the fundamental activity that has prompted human evolution! I believe that one of our important roles is to deliver the joy and thrill associated with succession and creation of knowledge to society so that we may enlighten each other.

Many of the School members are engaged in science by profession in one way or another and if not now, they will be in the future. To prevent the activity of “understanding the structure and reason of Nature” based on curiosity from falling into self-satisfaction, we should keep polishing our art for creation of knowledge. In order to create knowledge, it is absolutely necessary to strengthen logical thinking ability that can be achieved only through proper usage of language and solid knowledge; it is apparent that a house built with rotten lumber will collapse easily. In line with this, I think we should make more opportunities to develop solid art of science. Furthermore, created knowledge must be transmitted at least to the people in the same field so that its originality can be verified by a third-party. And if it is something that opens up a new door of knowledge, it will develop much further in the world. New knowledge is basically something innovative, which means that it cannot be accepted by the community easily; this is the reason each scientist must have a strong mind to prove his/her originality. I would say that we need the spirit of Galileo Galilei and Mencius; Galilei said, “And yet, it moves” and Mencius said, “Let your conscience be your guide even if there are 10 million enemies in front of you.” Now is the time we are asked to produce more human resources that can interact freely with global fellows, develop through friendly competition, and firmly provide their originality world-wide.

Together with the School members who share the same goal of “understanding the structure and reason of Nature” for succession and creation of solid knowledge, I will try to provide more opportunities of active exchanges across laboratories, departments, schools, universities, and even national borders.

i want to study at......................

hihi yah walau aku baru keterima di SMU, tapi aku udah mulai berangan buat lanjut kemana setelah lulus nanti. yeah it will happen 3 year more,,,,,,, tapi ngayal dulu gak papa kan? ahahaha

hmmm yah yah yah entah kenapa aku pengen banget study @ japan. mungkin karna muka2 orang jepang yang lucu, puntual, and disiplin in the high level-nya kali yah? hahaha karna in japan too, my idol live who is? ahaha secret.

trus mau faculty apa? jurusan apa? yah fakultas science jurusan fisika nuklir lah.......... kan sesuai cita2ku buat jadi fisikawan. masak mau jadi fisikawan ngambil jurusan hukum? ahaha

Introduce

TOFI Raih Tiga Medali Emas di Apho Mongolia

JAKARTA, MINGGU - Pelajar Indonesia yang tergabung dalam Tim Olimpiade Fisika Indonesia (TOFI) kembali berjaya dalam kompetisi Olimpiade Fisika Asia atau Asian Physics Olympiad di Ulaanbataatar, Mongolia.

Indonesia berada di urutan kedua setelah China dengan perolehan tiga medali emas, satu medali perak, satu medali perunggu, dan empat honorable mention. China meraih delapan emas, disusul Indonesia tiga emas, lalu Taiwan dengan dua emas. Upacara penutupan dilakukan Minggu sore waktu setempat.

Seisetiowati Seiful, Diretkur Humas Yayasan TOFI, Minggu (27/4), mengatakan peserta TOFI di Tim A dan tim tamu kembali ke tanah air Senin ini. Mereka akan kembali menjalani pelatihan untuk persiapan ke Olimpiade Fisika Internasional di Hanoi, Vietnam, pada Juli mendatang.

Perolehan medali emas diraih Adam Badra Cahaya (SMAN 1 Jember), Rudy Handoko Tanin (SMA Sutomo 1 Medan), dan Kevin Winata (SMAK 1 Penabur Jakarta). Medali perak dipersembahkan oleh Thomas A Nugraha Budi (SMAN 78 Jakarta), serta perunggu diraih Tyas Kokasih (SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang
